Athlete Guarantee Program

Trust is a major issue for athletes competing for a place in the Olympics and other high-profile athletic competitions. Taking nutritional supplements to help maintain health shouldn’t place an athlete at risk for testing positive for a banned substance. Broadly publicized allegations of contaminants in supplements lead many top athletes to wonder if taking supplements will jeopardize their future ability to qualify for competition.

In fact, national Olympic committees have warned athletes of the potential danger of contaminants, encouraging them not to consume any nutritional supplements.

To date, no nutritional supplement company has stepped forward to assume their portion of the liability that a banned substance contamination would create. USANA offers an ironclad solution through its Athlete Guarantee Program. This confident stance in a high-stakes venture strengthens our industry‐leading position and affirms our commitment to providing “Nutritionals You Can Trust.”

Our Athlete Guarantee Program permits select athletes, some of whom have high profiles, to enter an agreement with USANA.

During the term of the agreement, should the athlete test positive for a banned substance included in World Anti‐Doping Agency regulations as a result of taking USANA nutritional products, USANA will compensate that athlete two times their current annual earnings up to $1 million, based on the athlete’s personal level of competition, endorsement, and other income, as well as other factors.

Are you ready to take your place among the elite? Learn more about this program and your potential eligibility by sending an email to our Athlete & Sponsorship team.

Proposed Bills or Laws

USANA works closely with our trade associations and legal counsel in each country where we do business to monitor legislation that might impact our business. Fortunately, there is very little legislation proposed that poses a threat to our business. In those cases where we believe legislation might actually threaten your independent business, we will update our sales field and take appropriate action to minimize or eliminate any possible impact.

If you have specific questions regarding pending legislation, you can generally find answers to your questions on your government’s legislative website. If you oppose pending legislation or laws, work with your government representatives for change.

FDA Drug Establishment Registration

In July, 2011, USANA’s in-house facility gained Drug Establishment Registration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Operating an FDA-registered facility brings with it an increased amount of scrutiny. While other companies are required to follow the FDA’s less stringent nutritional supplement standards, USANA’s facilities can and will be inspected by the FDA under pharmaceutical guidelines—the FDA’s highest possible standard for manufacturers. Every step of the manufacturing process—from the handling of raw materials to tabletting—is required to comply with these strict guidelines.

USANA has been voluntarily adhering to these exacting standards for years. Our compliance with pharmaceutical-grade Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) means no changes will need to be made to the manufacturing processes in order to comply with the increased FDA scrutiny. The Drug Establishment Registration simply makes official something Associates and customers have always known.

The FDA registration is another statement of USANA’s unwavering confidence in the quality of its products—a statement you can happily share with your family, friends, neighbors, and Potential Associates/Customers.

USANA Health Sciences Receives NSF Certification

USANA Health Sciences has been manufacturing high quality nutritional supplements since 1992. Since the beginning, we have sought to go above and beyond legal requirements, manufacturing our supplements with the same attention to detail and thoroughness that is required of pharmaceuticals. This has served us well. We have avoided the pitfalls that plague many competitors who find themselves on lists or reports as examples of poor quality that are typical of the dietary supplement industry. We routinely pass our audits by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the Australian equivalent of the U.S. FDA.

Our sterling reputation for quality has been a key factor in the use and promotion of our products by numerous elite and Olympic athletes.

To improve consumer confidence and substantiate our high quality standards, USANA underwent an audit and gained certification by NSF International. NSF’s certification service includes product testing, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections, and ongoing monitoring. Consumer confidence in the quality and safety of our nutritional supplements is a priority at USANA, and certification by NSF serve to enhance our impeccable record of quality.

Nutrition Bar Recycling Program

In 2013, USANA Green partnered up with the USANA Foundation to introduce a nutrition-bar-wrapper recycling program.

Starting during the 2013 International Convention, special containers will be made available each year at the Salt Palace during Convention, as well as year round at the Home office. Any nutrition bar wrappers (all brands of bar wrappers that have a silver lining) are welcome to be turned in for recycling. By recycling the used nutrition bar wrappers, the USANA Foundation will receive money for each pound of wrappers collected.

This is an ongoing program that allows all who participate to help our environment as well as support the USANA Foundation.
