Product Pricing and Volume Differences by Market

USANA has a fixed rate in each market, so the prices of products stay constant when the market rate fluctuates. All of these add up to the cost of doing business and impact the price USANA is able to offer on a product. Product prices may differ by market. Due to these factors, simply comparing one market’s product price with the price of the same product in another market using the current exchange rate is an inaccurate way to compare pricing by market.

In some instances, USANA is able to adjust the value of the product volume to achieve the best price possible on a product. When this happens, you may see a volume amount difference if you compare the same product’s volume in a different market.

Product Pricing

Before pricing our products, we do our research to ensure that we not only supply the finest quality products, but at the best price possible. There are many factors that go into pricing: research, formulations, raw materials, costs associated with batch size, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, commissions, regulations, inflation, taxes based on the market, etc. All of these add up to the cost of doing business and impact the price USANA is able to offer on a product.

Pharmaceutical Grade Nutritionals

The Food and Drug Administration requires that dietary supplement manufacturers follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements (21 CFR, part 111). USANA, however, voluntarily follows the more stringent GMP for pharmaceuticals as the basis for its quality assurance program, which regulates virtually every aspect of manufacturing, including facility design and maintenance, raw material specification and control, supplier validation, product design and testing, and more. This voluntary adherence to GMP for pharmaceuticals means that USANA treats nutritional supplements with the same care that goes into the manufacturing of over-the-counter products.

In addition to our own high standards of manufacturing, a variety of government agencies conduct periodic inspections of our facilities, requiring strict control of procedures and documentation. Our Salt Lake City, Utah, facility is certified to be in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements set forth in NSF/ANSI Standard 173-2012, Dietary Supplements by NSF International, and it also became a registered U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Drug Establishment in 2011.

As such, all components of the manufacturing process are evaluated and inspected by the same FDA standards as are used for pharmaceutical products.

Additionally, in several countries around the world, supplements are more highly regulated than in the United States. In Australia, for example, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) mandates that manufacturers follow a set of GMP identical to pharmaceutical GMP in the United States. As an Australian supplier, USANA is regularly inspected and audited by the TGA to ensure that their GMP standards are met.

It is USANA’s mission to develop and provide the highest-quality, science-based products. By rigorously testing each product for potency and purity and by following pharmaceutical GMP, USANA sets the standard for excellence in dietary supplement manufacturing.

Locating the Lot Number and Expiration Date on a Product

Nutritionals: Lot numbers and expiration dates can be located on the bottom of the nutritional bottle or in the seal of the HealthPak.

Foods: Lot numbers and expiration dates are printed on the back of the gussets, or under the fold in the wrapper of the bars.

Rev3 Energy drink: Lot numbers and expiration dates are printed on the bottom of the cans.

Packets: Lot numbers and expiration dates are printed on the back of the Rev3 Surge and Probiotic packets and stamped in the seal of the BiOmega Jr. packets.

Celavive Skincare: Lot numbers and expiration dates can be located on the bottom of the bottles or on the crimped edge of the tubes.

Outer Safety Seal Concerns

You may have noticed that some of your products contain an outer plastic wrap, but others do not. Some of the new bottles no longer have a full plastic covering because they are labeled with a “lift and peel” label.

The lift and peel label contains extended product details as needed. It is legally required that all product information be accessible at the time of purchase or when being inspected by border Customs authorities. Because our products are being imported and may be sold through retail channels, we cannot wrap the products with lift and peel labels in plastic, due to this requirement.

Please take note that the following products will be affected by this regulation in Canada:

  • Mega Antioxidant
  • Body Rox
  • PhytoEstrin
  • Hepa Plus
  • Digestive Enzyme
  • Palmetto Plus
  • Pure Rest

All products still contain the safety seal under the lid. If the seal is intact, the product is safe to consume.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

NHP – Natural Health Products

USANA’s Nutritionals products are classified by Health Canada as Natural Health Products. All Natural Health Products must receive a product license from the Natural Health Products Directorate. The Natural Health Products Directorate reviews products for safety and efficacy and grants product licenses to products that meet their standards. When a product is licensed, an NPN (Natural Product Number) is assigned to the product and must appear on the label. For a complete current listing of USANA products with an NPN, search the Licensed Natural Health Product Database at https://health-products.canada.ca/lnhpd-bdpsnh/index-eng.jsp, by selecting “Licence Holder” in the Search field and “USANA” as the Criterion.

Celavive products are not classified as Natural Health Products but are classified as cosmetics. Cosmetics have a different type of review and are not assigned an identification number by Health Canada.
