Elite Bonus Rules
A. You must be ranked within the top 60 income earners among all USANA Associates worldwide for one quarter. A quarter is a 13- or 14-week period as determined by USANA.
Q. How much is my Elite Bonus worth?
A. You earn a share of the Elite Bonus pool, which is one percent of USANA’s worldwide Sales Volume Points (SVP) in a quarter. The value of that pool depends on USANA’s sales, and your exact share of that pool depends on three things: (a) your position in the top 60 income earners the previous quarter, (b) your actual earnings this quarter, and (c) the absolute growth in CVP you achieve this quarter against the corresponding quarter last year.
Q. What does a ‘quintile’ mean?
A. A quintile is what you get when you divide any population into five subgroups of equal numbers by some ranked measures. Being in the top quintile puts you in the highest 1/5 of the population.
Q. How exactly do these three things (rank, earnings, and growth) determine my share on the Elite Bonus?
Your rank in the previous quarter determines which quintile of the Elite Bonus pool you are placed. The higher quintiles take a bigger portion of the pool.
Your actual earnings this quarter determine how many income shares you earn from your quintile’s pool.
Your absolute CVP growth versus last year determines how many growth shares you earn of your quintile’s pool.
Q. How is the Elite Bonus pool divided into quintiles?
A.
First Quintile | Ranked #1 to #12 = | 35% of the Elite Bonus pool |
Second Quintile | Ranked #13 to #24 = | 24% of the Elite Bonus pool |
Third Quintile | Ranked #25 to #36 = | 19% of the Elite Bonus pool |
Fourth Quintile | Ranked #37 to #48 = | 14% of the Elite Bonus pool |
Fifth Quintile | Ranked #49 to #60 = | 8% of the Elite Bonus pool |
Totals | 100% |
Your rank in the previous quarter determines into which of these five quintiles you are placed this quarter. Thus, being in a higher quintile can earn you a higher Elite Bonus amount.
Q. If I do well enough this quarter to move up a quintile, will USANA promote me to the higher quintile in calculating my Elite Bonus for the next quarter?
A. Yes. How you did in the previous quarter determines which quintile you are placed in for the current quarter.
Q. How do I maximize my share of the quintile pool?
A. You do so by increasing your income and your growth this quarter relative to other Associates in the same quintile. USANA divides each quintile pool into 45 shares—30 income shares and 15 growth shares.
The number of income shares you earn (out of the 30) is in proportion to how much you contribute towards the total income of all twelve Associates in your quintile (yourself included).
For example, if you earn $600,000 this quarter, and the other twelve Associates in your quintile each earn $100,000, you earn 600,000 / 1,700,00 of the 30 shares, which equals 10.59 income shares.
The number of growth shares you earn (out of the 15) is calculated in a similar way, but based on growth numbers.
For example, if you grow 6,000 CVP this quarter, but the other twelve in your quintile each grow 9,000 CVP, you earn 6,000 / 105,000 of the 15 shares, which equals 0.86 shares.
In the example above, you earn a total of 10.59 + 0.86 = 11.45 shares of your quintile pool this quarter.
Q. How is the dollar value of my shares calculated?
A. This is based on two factors, your growth and your relative earnings. The formula is calculated as follows:
SVP multiplied by Elite Bonus pool percentage multiplied by quintile proportion of bonus divided by 45 (15 for growth and 30 for income).
This formula is best illustrated with an example:
Suppose you are in the second quintile, and USANA’s total Sales Volume for the quarter = 100,000,000 SVP.
The Elite Bonus pool = 1 percent of 100,000,000 or $1,000,000
The second quintile pool = 24 percent of $1,000,000 or $240,000
Each share of the second quintile pool = $240,000 / 45 (15 for growth and 30 for income) = $5,333.33
Using the numbers calculated above, you earned 11.45 shares x $5,333.33 = $61,042 of Elite Bonus.
Q. What happens if my CVP in this quarter is lower than that in the previous year?
A. If your growth is negative, you earn no growth share for the quarter. The impact is a larger share for everyone else who does grow in your quintile. (See Rule #4 for example)
Q. Does the Leadership Bonus I earn count toward my quarter’s income and growth shares?
A. It does for your income shares. For growth shares, USANA uses only the CVP you earn from the basic weekly commission, i.e., what you earn by balancing the volume on the left and right sides of your Business Centers.
Q. If I win a USANA global cash contest, does that add to my quarter’s income when calculating income shares and help my quintile placement in the next quarter?
A. Yes. Any earnings from global contests counts, but earnings that are country-specific (e.g., USANA Singapore’s cash for advancement contest) are excluded to ensure a level playing field.
Q. Does the Elite Bonus I earn count toward my income when determining either my quintile in the next quarter or my income shares?
A. No, the Elite Bonus is always excluded.
Q. Are there any conditions I need to meet to qualify for Elite Bonus?
A. The same conditions that apply to earning Leadership Bonus apply to earning Elite Bonus.
Q. What happens if an Associate in the previous quarter’s top 60 becomes ineligible for Elite Bonus?
A. Everyone moves up a rank and one more Associate is added.
Q. What happens if there is a tie in income earned in a quarter?
A. The Associate with the higher growth in the previous quarter will be placed higher in the quintile pool.
Q. Why does USANA reserve the right to increase the number of participants in the Elite Bonus when sales grow?
A. The Leadership Bonus has a built-in mechanism to broaden the base of participating Associates as the company’s sales grow. For the Elite Bonus, this provision allows USANA a similar way to benefit more top performers as the business grows as well.
